  wiremu kingi was also known as wi kingi or wiremu kingi ranginui te kaponga...his father was Wi Piti who in turn was the son to te kaponga...Te Kaponga was the youngest child to Ranginui and Ngaiterangi of Ngati Porou...wiremu kingi come to taranaki thru the great migration and settled at waitara and married Mere Karaka who was the daughter to Wiremu karena takoro and Kirihorea. Wiremu kingi and Mere Karaka had a child Maata Ranginui who married an englishman named Brightwell..The karaka lineage lived in and around waitara and affilliated with Ninia Pa (waitara West) and Manukorihi Pa waitara...during the ending of the wars of waitara a messanger was sent to bring wiremu kingi ranginui and to invite him to a meeting set up at tongapurutu between the chiefs,,,king Tawhio, te rauparaha and a chief called te kuri te kaeae te riwiti te hiakai

  All I have is photo's ad handed down knowledge. My Grandmother Olive Habgood of Kate Habgood who was 2 years old when became stepdaughter to the Late Albert Lister, is I am told from this descent! Olive then Married Mr Abbotsford Smith and they lived in Hexton Gisborne. I have only photographic likeness, and the hope that someone may recall these names, and help me find my Whanau through my Grandmothers lineage! Photo's available to view. With Hope and Much Aroha

  wiremu kingi aka wiremu kingi ranginui aka wiremu kingi ranginui te kaponga aka wi kingi aka wiremu ranginui kingi aka wiremu kingi te aowera.....is my husband wiremu kingi's great grandfather....i refer to the archive material already submitted to the Waitangi Tribunal under historic grievances to the Crown under the Wai number 2280 his daughters Maata Ranginui (b 1860 - d 1879) aged 19yrs and left four (4) children....his other daughter named TeHaurawhiti Ranginui dec'd 1910 who left one daughter.... we hold his mandate...we hold his mana...."Ngati Wiremu Kingi Hapu" kia ora!!!

  A Gaye Collier, I think the connection you are looking for is through his sister Wikitoria Tute(Pakihi)rangi who married Te Keepa Te Mano, their son Wi Rangiwhaitiri (my 3rd great grandfather) was a chief in the Manutuke (Tarewa) area.

  My Grandmother's name was Tangiao Kingi. I believe she was the great-granddaughter (or Great-Great) of Wiremu KingiTe Rangataake. My grnadfather Kahi Wi Parata took her back to Taheke Hokianga his region from her Te Atiawa people. I would like to know who her parents were. Does anyone know anything about Wiremu's children?

  Kia Ora, I am a descendant of Wiremu Kingi II. I am of Ngai Tai descent. I am his great great granddaughter. He is my maternal grandfathers father. However I'm looking for my tipuna's connection to Te Aitanga-a-Mahaki. All I ask; is Wiremu Kingi my koroua's father? Would appreciate any feedback please.
