Mr. Hugh Whitcombe,
C/o Messrs. Whitcombe & Tombs,
Private Bay, G.P.O.,
AUCKLAND.
Dear Mr. Whitcombe,
ART GALLERY.
I am in receipt of your letter of 12th February, and in reply
beg to advise you that the book Maori Portraits and Maori Customs
is entirely the property of Mr. H.E. Partridge. The volume was left
with me solely for safe keeping until arrangements could be made
for its publication. Whatever is done in connection with it should
be done direct with Mr. Partridge. I am sending Mr. Partridge a
copy of your letter and my reply.
I am very glad to learn that arrangements are being made for the
publication of the book.
I am,
Yours faithfully,
[John Barr]
CHIEF LIBRARIAN & DIRECTOR.
